Informed Consent

Open access to knowledge, key to citizen engagement.

As citizens we consent, with the people that we choose to represent us. Our democracy foundation is Informed consent. As of today, information in either: confusing overwhelming, or twisted.

How do you filter the things that are important to you and effect your rights? So you can be confident to give this informed consent. Instead of reactive passive agreement.

Human rights are at the core of society, independent of culture or country, They are universal, and we care about them. Some go so in the core of your being that you are motivated to know what happens what who and where it is enforced, protected or violated. You might want to take action, or be part of a movement that protects this right for yourself or others.

At CitizenLab, we aspire to cultivate an ecosystem where individuals can actively engage in informed consent, forming the cornerstone of their democratic societies. With citizen.chat, we strive to offer a sophisticated platform enabling users to effectively monitor and respond to crucial human rights matters – locally, nationally, or worldwide – aligning with our broader vision. While certain elements remain under development, we eagerly anticipate introducing the following capabilities over the upcoming two quarters:

  • Establish a presence on citizen.chat by creating an account, maintaining the option for anonymity.

  • Curate a list of preferred human rights matters requiring vigilant oversight.

  • Define pertinent geographical locations – cities, nations, or broader scopes – demanding attention.

  • Schedule customizable notifications – daily or weekly – according to individual user preferences.

  • Access personally chosen collections assembled by reputable journalists, local publications, scholars, and similar experts.

  • Integrate three personally chosen external resources into the monitoring framework.

Upon implementation, citizen.chat will generate targeted alerts related to the human rights matters most significant to each user. Additionally, thoughtfully crafted guidance and instruments will accompany these notifications, facilitating constructive responses, such as:

  • Composing correspondences addressed to elected representatives.

  • Seeking further explanation on intricate subjects – i.e., extensive legislative documentation – fostering enhanced comprehension.

  • Formulating petitions reflecting shared concerns.

  • Circulating pertinent developments across popular social networking channels.

  • Joining grassroots movements or endorsing ongoing campaigns.
